Android 16
Android 16 is the third completely bionic cyborg that Future Trunks had not seen in his timeline. Unlike his mechanical counterparts, his character is benign and he retains a love for the Earth and nature, causing him to fight to protect it.
His power is greater than that of both Android 17 and Android 18 as well as the fully powered 1st stage Cell. He is eventually over-powered and defeated by the the 2nd stage Cell, following's Cell's absorption of Android 17.
He plays a very significant role in the defeat of Cell later on. After Bulma and her father, Dr. Briefs, repair him, he promtly joins the battle in the Cell Game. He is damaged once again by Cell, this time beyond repair, and his demise is what pushed Gohan over the edge, transforming him into 2nd Stage SSJ, going far beyond Cell's power.

Android 17
Android 17 is one of the cyborgs created by Dr. Gero for the sole purpose of killing Goku (though he rebelled and killed his creator). In Future Trunks' world, he's simply an evil individual with no regard for human life. Along with Android 18, he killed most of our heroes including Piccolo, Vegeta, Yamcha, Tien and even Son Gohan, leaving Future Trunks as mankind's only hopeHe is quite a different character in the "present" world. Although his character is not evil, his big ego proved to be his fatal flaw.
Believing that no one in the universe is stronger than him, he could not accept that fact that he was unable to defeat Cell and fell an easy victim to Cell, thus contributing to Cell's Development to 2nd Stage.
